Landlord Registration Schemes

The Government have announced a regional roll out of the Landlord Registration Scheme which is proposed under the Renters’ Rights Act 2025.

The aim is to first introduce the requirement for landlords to register and upload the relevant information for properties let in the West Midlands from 15th December 2026.   Landlords who let properties in other areas will be required to register in accordance with the staggered timetable published by the Government.  Please see the Government Guidance here for more information and details of the proposed implementation dates for each region.  You may wish to send a copy to your landlords to keep them informed.

The landlord guidance states that ‘you will need to start the registration process yourself. There will be an option for your agent to upload certain information on your behalf. We’ll publish guidance for letting agents on how this will work ahead of service rollout. To be notified when new guidance is published, you can sign up to GOV.UK Alerts. ‘
