A self employed handyman, who regularly carried out maintenance on properties for a letting agent, was employed to fix a leaking porch roof at a residential property. Upon removing a sheet of material from the underside of the leaking roof he realised that it was an insulation board which contained asbestos. The board was broken during removal and the surrounding area contaminated with asbestos debris. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) carried out an investigation.
