One of the three providers of a government-authorised tenancy deposit scheme, Mydeposits, has found that there have only been disputes in relation to only 0.35% of the 335, 000 deposits protected under its scheme. Further, of these cases independetly adjudicated, 91/% of disputes were resolved in favour of the tenant. The average amount in dispute was also considerably lower than the average deposit of £1,052, being just £733. However, although cheering news for tenants, these figures relate only to those deposits protected under the Mydeposits scheme, so do not reflect the amount of landlords compying with the tenancy deposit scheme requirements.
