Page 1 of 2 History
The Letting Centre was established in 1993 as an independent
organisation providing support to landlords and businesses involved in
residential lettings and property management.
Prior to that, the founders were involved in lettings as
landlords in their own right and as agents for local landlords in the
Cambridgeshire area. By this time, we had published a range of letting
agreements which provided a clear and concise format, written in plain English
and, uniquely, were also available with comprehensive legal and drafting notes.
The Letting Update Journal was also established in 1994. The
Journal is circulated on a subscription-only basis and clients include letting
agents, estate agents, surveyors, private landlords and solicitors. With a
circulation exceeding 1700, the Journal is now one of the leading publications
supporting the residential letting sector.
Information
Driven by the need to collate the mass of data and regulatory
requirements necessary to compile the Journal, and by questions asked by our
subscribers, the Letting Centre embarked on a computerisation project in 1994.
Our database now comprises over 2500 records of information related to the
letting market landlord and tenant law, recent
legislation, and key companies and suppliers. The Letting Centre also maintains
its own small library of information relating to the private rented sector; a
collection of reference books on housing and housing law, details of key cases
and recent case law, copies of the relevant Acts of Parliament and other
statute, and a selection of general and market information.
Publications
The Letting Centre produces a range of products and publications to
support the residential letting community. Current publications include
the Letting Update Journal, the Letting Handbook, various Professional
Packs (addressing specific issues e.g. possession procedures) and a
range of Factsheets, and information leaflets on safety and tax issues.
