Hello, I am through a letting agency and they have informed me of a price increase of £20/month on my rent. I manage to get a compromise at £10. However i am still concern with the fact that i have been in the property for 9 month. Could anyone be so kind to tell me if they are allowed to do so even before a full year of renting in the property? What is the law on this? Thank you in advance.

It depends on what your tenancy contract says.

It sounds like you were on a fixed 6 months and now are rolling on a month to month basis, so long as the tenancy allows for a rent increase they can give you notice to incease.  You either pay/negotiate or they give you notice.

If you are on a fixed 12 month with no increase for that time then they cant.
