1  General Category / Tenancy Agreements / Tenant Giving Notice on: June 08, 2007, 01:52:33 PM
I am renting under a 6 month Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement.  It is now less than 2 months until the end of the 6 month term and I understand that the Landlord is required to give me 2 months' written notice if he wants me to leave - which in effect means that I would be in the property for more than 6 months, depending on when he gives me notice, as I've been there over 4 months.

However, am I currently free to leave at the end of the 6 month term without giving any notice or do I still have to give 2 months' notice to him - which effectively means I'd have to stay beyond the 6 month term (or be liable for the rent for another 2 months from when I give the notice)?

Thanks.

Willie
