The Letting Centre

We moved out of the property while repairs were being done.  To renew the AST the landlord now wants to do a credit check for insurance purposes.  Am wary about this as a) am not asking for credit, b) checks leave footprints and adversely affect credit.  There was no mention of this when we moved out just a week before we are due to move back in.  As my landlord will be holding over £2K of my money, should I do a credit check on him? ???
