Post by: Jane.lane on January 26, 2007, 05:47:33 PM
my friend signed her tenancy agreement 15/09/2004 and has not signed a new one since her landlord now wants to sell the property and has only given her 2 mths verbal notice can he do this without an up to date tenancy agreement

No, he needs to provide written notification.

The two months is correct, the tenancy would be a statutory periodic tenancy, but if he tried through the courts to evict with only verbal notification he will get nowhere

We live and learn.

Where does it state that notice must be in writing?

Surely it would be enough for the tenant to agree that notice was given?

What about a person that cannot read?
