Question Title: Large print tenancy agreement

| A prospective tenant for one of the properties that I manage has just come in with their social worker. She informed me that, as a result of the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act 2005, I will have to provide the tenant with a copy of all the tenancy paperwork, including the tenancy agreement, in large print. The tenant has very poor eyesight. Is this correct that I have to provide a large print tenancy agreement? If so, where can I get a copy of such an agreement?

From 4 December 2006 the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995, as amended by the DDA 2005, places landlords, and those who manage rented premises, under a duty in certain circumstances to make adjustments for disabled people who are either tenants or occupiers of those rented premises, unless failure to do so can be justified. One of these is the tenancy paperwork.
Whilst a proposed Code of Practice on the new duties is to be issued by the Disability Rights Commission later this year, guidance from the relevant statutory instruments would indicate that agents and landlords may have to put correspondence in 20 point font for a tenant who has a visual impairment. They will, however, be able to pass on to tenants any reasonable costs incurred. Landlords and agents using the Letting Centre's Professional Series tenancy agreements will be able to adjust the font size and the layout of the agreement to produce the required document.
