Question Title: Letting a parking space

Question:
397
I have had a rather unusual request for one of my landlords. He has asked me to set up a legal agreement to let a parking site to a local businessman for Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm. Can you do this and what sort of document do I need?
Answer:
This sort of agreement, known as a licence as there is no 'exclusive occupation', need not have any sort of documentation and would then be a bare licence. However, it would be much better if all the issues were put in writing, agreed and signed by the parties. This would be called a contractual licence. The issues that would need to be agreed should include:- term of the agreement, that is to say, how long the agreement should run, yearly, monthly or weekly; the rental and the payment period; a definition of the property being let; arrangements for terminating the agreement and any special terms, for example who will provide insurance cover for the site, the liability for any business rate or maintenance of the site.
