Question Title: Small claims online
| Question: 343 |
| I have been told that I can now issue a Small Claims action against a tenant for arrears of rent on-line. How do I do this and what are the advantages in using this method?

| Answer: |
| Last year the Court Service introduced Money Claim Online (MCOL). This enables anyone to issue a claim for a fixed amount of money and the claim will be issued electronically in the name of Northampton Crown Court. The service can be accessed on their web site at www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk Where a claim is made on-line all aspects of the claim can be dealt with on-line and payment of the court fee can be made with a credit or debit card. The greatest advantage is speed. Where you submit your claim and it is received before 9.00am on a day when the court is open, the request will be processed that day; where it is received after 9.00am it will be processed on the next day that the court is open. The claim will usually be printed and posted to the tenant on the day it is processed. MCOL also has a helpdesk on 0845 6015935 or fax 0845 6015889.
