Question Title: Marriage

Question:
291
What is the situation regarding the names on tenancy agreements when tenants marry and surnames are changed ? Do the names have to be changed immediately, or can it wait until the next renewal.
Answer:
Assuming the individuals are tenants listed on the tenancy agreement, and living in the property, there is no fundamental change in the tenancy and therefore no need to change the names indicated on the written agreement. The changes can wait until a new tenancy agreement or extension is issued (many people continue to use their maiden name after marriage anyway).
