Question Title: Lodgings Register for the Homeless

Question:
271
I am writing to ask you if it is mandatory that our Company has to be included in a lodgings register for issue to the homeless in the area of Watford, Hertsmere and Three Rivers Council. Twice we have been asked for general information from Homeless Development Team for inclusion in their directory. The last letter intimates that we have to comply with Section 104 (1) of the Housing Act 1985. Please will you let us know if we are required to fill in this questionnaire and have our Company's name published in their Directory.
Answer:
Section 104 (1) applies only to Secure Tenancies, and thus only local authorities and Housing Associations will be affected. Most private landlords in the private rented sector will now be letting under the Housing Act 1988 and we see no reason why you should be required to comply with this request.
