| Can I grant an assured shorthold tenancy for a period of less than six months?

| For an AST granted after 28th February 1997 there is no statutory restriction on the length of the initial term. However there is now a restriction which prevents a court granting a possession order for such tenancies before the initial six months has elapsed.
