Question Title: HB common problems & solutions
| Question: 140 |
| I have been experiencing problems in receiving housing benefit (HB) payments from the local authority for one of my tenants, When I tried call the local HB office, they said that they could not discuss details of my tenants claim, nor explain why the payments have no longer been coming through. What can I do ?

| Answer: |
| This is a common problem. Many HB offices will no longer discuss the HB claim without the written authority of the claimant on the basis that this is personal and confidential information regarding the tenant's circumstances. You must either ask your tenant to help you chase the matter up. Alternatively, you might ask your tenant to sign a written form of authority which gives you permission to discuss details of his claim with the HB office.
