Question Title: HB appeal process

Question:
139
I have been told that there has been an overpayment of housing benefit. A request for repayment of £1245 because the tenant's Job seekers allowance (JSA) was terminated four months earlier and the HB office are seeking to recover the four months' overpayment. How do I appeal the overpayment determination ?
Answer:
You should write to the HB office stating that you do not agree with the overpayment determination, and ask for an officer review. You may also ask for a statement of reasons as to why or how they have come to this decision. If you do not agree with the officer review, you may ask for the case to be considered by the Independent Appeal Board. The HB department should tell you your appeal rights at each stage.
