Question Title: Payments & recovery of overpayments

Question:
138
It is over a month since my tenant moved in and completed his claim for housing benefit, and no payments have been made. What should we do ?
Answer:
The Housing Benefit (HB) regulations state that the first payment must be made within 14 days of making the claim, provided that the claimant tenant has provided the local authority will all the necessary information. You should get your tenant to call the HB office and chase the claim. If they are not able to determine the claim quickly, then they should at least make a payment on account in the interim.
