Question Title: New Landlord
| Question: 101 |
| I represent a landlord who is purchasing a property that has been divided into three separate dwelling houses. His intention is to live in one. The remaining two flats are already occupied by tenants. If he allows the tenants to remain during and after the sale will he be giving them an assured tenancy ?
|
| Answer: |
| No - The tenants must be informed of their new landlord within 28 days of the purchase. Until they are notified, the responsibilities of the landlord remain with the old landlord. They will not be setting up an assured tenancy. The tenancy will remain the same as it was prior to the sale.
