I manage a three-storey house in the Chelmsford area. Will i need to register under the new HMO licensing provisions. How much will it cost? Are there any ways to avoid the licensing requirement?

If there are 5 people or more in the property from two or more families then you will need a licence. Contact Chelmsford BC for the fee or look on their website.

There is no way to avoid it unless you reduce the number occupants to less than 5 or let it as a single unit
